2023 Round 3 Championship Review

Pivot City 109 – 84 Lara Giants

Our Pivot City Championship Men have claimed their third straight win after comfortably taking care of the Lara Giants on Tuesday night in another high-scoring affair.

Cracking the 100 mark for the second time this season already the team got off to a hot start as they outscored the Giants 31-19 in the opening term behind the hot start of Ethan Blythe who made his debut for the 2023 season after returning from College for the Summer break.

Finishing with 33 on the night Ethan was lethal from 3-point range connection on 7 threes to help the team stay undefeated.

Lara who looked shaky early on could not find their shooting form as our Pivot men were able to extend their lead by a further 5 points to hold a commanding 17-point lead heading into the halftime break.

The third quarter saw the Giants mount a bit of a comeback that brought the lead to single digits late in the quarter, however, Max Kos stepped up in a big way connecting on 7 of his own triples on his way to 35 to extend the lead to 19 with 10 to play.

Another even quarter ensued with the Pivot never allowing the Giants to gain any momentum as the team routed Lara for a 25-point win to remain on top of the ladder.

Max Kos 35 points

Ethan Blythe 33 points

Jordan O’Leary 17 Points

Tyler Erard 16 points.

Pivot City 83 – 64 CC Eagles

After their extended off-season our Pivot City Women have claimed their second straight win to remain undefeated as they defeated the Eagles who pushed their way to the Semi Final in 2022.

Jumping out to a 7-point lead through the first quarter it was all Eve Braslis throughout this one as she poured in 41 points to lead all scorers.

Holding a 15-point lead at the half the Pivot Women were able to cruise to the 19-point win as the Eagles were never able to string a run long enough to get within striking distance of Pivot.

With all 7 players hitting the scoreboard it is great to see some of our younger Pivot City stars step up to the Championship division this year as they look to propel their careers forward learning from some of the Pivot Veterans.

Both teams look to remain undefeated heading into round four this coming Tuesday, make sure to get down to AWA to support your Pivot Championship teams!
