Pivot City 100 – 81 Tigers
Our Pivot City Men have come away with their 11th straight win as they defeated the winless Tigers 100-81 on Tuesday night.
Coming out of the gates slow the men took just a 4-point lead heading into quarter time, which was only able to extend slightly to 8 by half time.
Lacking on the defensive end a rev-up at halftime saw the boys come out with more fight in the second half as Max Kos began to pick up the scoring load heading into the 4th.
Holding on a slight double-digit advantage with 10 to play Max Kos took it upon himself to will the team to a win and spoil any chances of a major upset from Tigers.
Pouring in a team-high 40 Kos was pivotal hitting tough fall-away jumpers and coming away with 6 made threes on the night.
Marach Marach was also great in this one as he gave the team a boost with 15 points and some insanely athletic dunks.
Aaron Ruiz and Cohen Blythe were also great in this one contributing 12 each for a well-rounded offensive attack.
The men now head into the bye sitting well and truly on top of the ladder and will look to finish out the remainder of the season hopefully without a loss.
Pivot City 72 – 56 Surfcoasters
Suiting up just 5 players against the young Surfcoasters our Pivot Women have put on a great display of team effort to put away their 8th win for the season.
Coming out great in the opening quarter, the Women were able to jump out to a 8 point 17-9 lead as some stifling defence set the team up for success at the Geelong Arena.
An offensive explosion in the 2nd quarter saw the lead double as 28-18 run had the team sitting comfortably with a 18 point advantage with just 20 minutes to play.
The second half saw Pivot slow down offensively; however, the team was able to stop the Surfcoasters in their tracks, not allowing any opportunity to get a run on and cut the lead.
Being outscored just 29-27 through the final half of action Pivot were more than able to wrap up the game due to a breakout performance from Miley Dawkins who had 26 on the night, doing all her damage from inside the arc.
With all 5 players hitting the scoreboard it was great to see the young and veteran players gel well for a solid win.
Evie Perez finished the game with 15 while Shayna Poto dished out 14 and Eve Braslis was right behind her with 13.
The team will look to continue their winning ways when they match-up with Try Boys next Tuesday.
